can your computer boot to CD? Pop the CD in, boot from the CD.
if you can't, bring the 2k disk and 4 FRESHLY FORMATTED FLOPPIES with you.
CD:\bootdisk\ and run the .exe
Repair.
Pray that you have a backup disk.. If you don't, you know now why you need
it.

Make backups a regular thing. I don't rely on windows because of how many
times it's screwed me.

If it starts to mess up, I format/reinstall. I do have backups but nothing
is as good as a format/reinstall!

I just had the same problem I booted up with a windows xp disk to
repair console and ran chkdsk /r and fix the problem.
