I get the same blue screen during intallation, at
different times. its a blue screen titled "memory
management". after the error, setup stops, have to
restart. happens again and again ...

I have a:
Asus A7V mb
Athlon 800mhz
768 mb pc-100 ram
WD 40gb hard drive

all additional/unnecessary hardware was removed, hopeing
it would simplify the install

any suggestions?

Run a RAM checker on the machine, sounds like a hardware problem. Here is

It does not like your memory sticks

Memory problems have plagued Windows since the beginning.

Try pulling out 2 sticks for the install or another from another computer
