blue screen after adding VIA 1394 controller

Running MS drivers version 5.1.2600.0. PCI card is identified as type "SBP2
IEEE 1394 Devices", Manufacturer "IEEE 1394 SBP-2 Device Vendor" (looks like
an OEM job with default settings), Location "on VIA OCHI Compliant IEE 1394
Host Controller".

The card is a cheap CompUSA store brand card, and I am probably getting what
I pay for. But I can't imagine it's that uncommon. It seems to happen when
there is heavy LAN activity (on another ethernet card, not using 1394
networking) in addition to heavy activity to the IDE bridge controller
attached to the card.

I've heard from a friend of mine using this same card having the same
problem on his machine, although this is of course anecdotal.

Is this a know issue? Can somebody recommend an interface card they are
using successfully with very heavy disk access?
