All the URL's/HTML's documents i have saved which usually are represented by
the blue 'e' (behind a page) icon has been altered to the icon for ICO file
extensions. Everything still work except only that the icons have changed.
Interestingly, if i drag a URL off the IE address bar to say my desktop or
other folder, it shows the correct icon but not if i use the "save as"
option which i have been doing in the past. My PC is definitely clean. I have
Windows Defender and McAfee Virus scan and Firewall running when this
happened. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling IE via Add/Remove Windows
components and IEreset.inf but it didn't fix it... Anybody have any
suggestions how to fix this? Thanks...

(Incorrect or generic Windows icon displayed for HTM, HTML and MHT files...)

Downloading the .vbs script from the above page would probably be the
easiest way to go.

Note that .url's and .htm/.html's are two different file types. Your
*.url's (an extension for internet shortcuts, hidden by windows, much like
*.lnk file types are hidden) seem to be okay.

Thanks a lot. The script was indeed the easy fix. Appreciate it very much. I
am still a little curious what caused it but at least I can get it fixed
again in case the issue comes back.
