Does anyone know why some of my file names are blue when I File>Open, when
the majority of them are black?

Thanks,

Usually, these are compressed files. You probably have run the "disk
cleanup" tool at some time. Right click on such a file and then click
"properties", then "Advanced". You should seee that the "compressed"
flag is checked.
There is nothing different between compressed and uncompressed files,
just that the compressed files take up less space on the disk.

....and can take a longer time to open.

This is correct, I should have mentionned it. But I have yet to see an
instance where this really would have mattered.
