'bloop sounds'

I get a 'bloop' sound when I load a new web page
(sometimes more than one 'bloop'). I went to the sounds
tab in control panel & deleted all sounds - no change. I
tried and removed both MSN's & Yahoo's pop-up blockers &
they don't appear to be related. The only thing I can
find that works is mute!
Any suggestions? TIA - Miles

I have the same bloop and so I re-posted this problem on
IE6 newsgroup(hope you don't mind):
http://communities.microsoft.com/New...s/default.asp?
ICP=internetexplorer&sLCID=US&newsgroup=microsoft.public.wi
ndows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser
(watch the wrap)
Look there for some interesting replies. A pop-up stopper,
virus or spyware is what could cause this. I scanned clean
with SpyBot, Norton AV. I just haven't looked at the popup
stopper(also Norton's). Now that I think about it, the
bloop began around the time I upgraded to NIS 2004.

best of luck! - John

Got Google's toolbar installed? Have it enabled to block popups? Have
it enabled to play a sound when blocking a popup?

Yahoo's pop-up blocker makes a "Bloop" sound too.

This turned out to be Norton's popup stopper. Haven't
figured out how to disable, but at least I know where
it's coming from.

If the event isn't in Control Panel> Sound and Audio, try the
program's preference or option menus.
