In a nutshell, a blogger is basically some person who uses a rich text
editor running in a web application to write anything from a short paragraph
to an entire page of content which in some circumstances may include
uploading images and creating embedded links to other resources. The context
of the content can be anything from Cathy's Kitty to technical support for
web application development.
The blog has management features that allow the blogger to date and time
stamp each entry. Other IP enabled software processes that run on the
Internet may reuse the content of the blog somehow. This is called
'syndication' and is exactly like what we see when we open up a newspaper
and see the many articles from the Associated Press or Knight-Ridder and so
on; those organizations collect and aggregate the content and then lease it
to the newspaper publisher. That is, we can now make our content visible in
somebody else's web page.
You want to learn all you can about the underlying technology as it is
already changing the world on a global scale and I kid you not. The
underlying technology disrupts the controlled collection and distribution of
'the news' from the 'official' news and media organizations. The flow of
advertising dollars is shifting and you know how they hate it when we no
longer have to be their customers.
In fact, this issue (blogging) has already been taken into the U.S. courts
where the corporate slimesters are trying to use their influence with courts
to establish new laws supporting the claim that they and they alone are
'reporters' of the news. That alone should tell any reasonably educated
American something is wrong. In America the courts are not supposed to
create the law. The U.S. Constitution states the legislative branch of
government creates law and the courts interpret the law. This topsy-turvy
threat to our freedoms and liberties was established and is controlled by
Democrats and Republican parties alike. Its not the first time this has
happened in America. The 'founding fathers' referred to those who would
attempt to undermine the U.S. Constitution as "Domestic Enemies."
So the issue of blogging is part of the big picture in a very real and
factual way. I am blogging now as a matter of fact. You understand? There
are corrupt entities in America (and no doubt world-wide) who hate and
despise free speech because money and power can be acquired and controlled
by those that can repress speech.
