I hear my HDD activity and investigated my firewall and found an
incrementing incoming port 192.168.1.1:xxxx(thru my router) constantly
trying to access port 192.168.1.10:2869. Any ideas on what might be the
source??? TIA

Mike,

Your router address is 192.168.1.1 & connected computers can increment to
that IP

Not sure what is accessing that port but its a local machine. If you're
unsure, connect to your router & use the built in firewall & block that
port.

Right now there are no other machines attached to my home network and the
router is blocking that port and writing that info to the log. I now have
~18 bizillion? entries telling me is has blocked access to that port, The
source is 192.168.1.1:xxxx ( where x is a constantly incrementing number,
the starting point changes with every log off/on) ) about 1 per second
trying to access 192.168.1.10:2865. The question is, how can I stop this
activity with the firewall. I know it is internal because I disconneced the
either net cable from the modem and the activity continues. If I "lock" the
firewall, all activaty stops. TIA

Mike,

Is your router encrypted? It sounds like its not encrypted & someone is
using your router from another house...

The 2865 is the port used for RAS (Dialup access) usually.

I would connect to the router & see attached devices. If you have a MAC
address & its different from yours then BLOCK it which will stop this issue

You said the address is http://192.168.1.1 then type username/password &
connect to it. That is where you will see the attached devices.

Please post back your findinds but never give out the MAC address
