Hi all,

I know of some unwanted programs/processes than run on my computer than are not ones that i installed (dodgy internet adware etc and spyware). I have Norton 2004 so it has blocked Internet Access to them but i just want to block them from running at all.

How do i block the processes that i know the names of?

Thanks boys n' girls!

If it's spyware, remove it

The below links assist you in checking your system for parasites:-

Please note that some malware may kill the internet connection when it is
removed, the program on the link below will enable you to regain the internet
connection.

Hi Kaylene,

Thanks for your help.

I ran Ad-Aware 6.0 and it found serious amounts of stuff and then successfully quarantined and deleted the bad stuff.

However i still get the cashback.exe crappy thing running in the processes and its starting to annoy me.

Any written articles on manually stopping known name processes from starting in the processes tab of task manager?

Anymore help appreciated.!

Most are usually started via the Registry, although some are started via the Start Menu, Startup folder. Click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG Go to the Startup tab and look for things you don't recognize, or can't determine whether they're valid or not. Uncheck them.

For a more usable display, you might want to see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Startup Programs Tracker. You can't disable the programs from here, but it does give a much more "readable" display.

Just to clarify for anyone else who may need a Solution.

I have Ad-Aware from Lavasoft running to get rid of Spam & Adware and
i have WinPatrol running to block start up processes altogether, even ones that start after terminating once.

Hope this helps others like it helped me! Thanks guys.
