Blocking and Unblocking IE7 and Ie8

I downloaded and loaded the Blocker toolkit for both IE7 and IE8.

Now I want to “unblock” IE7

At first, I just removed the policy, but the computers did not download and
install IE7. Next, I disabled the policy thinking that maybe I needed to be
more proactive to make sure that the policy was reversed, but my computers
STILL did not seem to download and install IE7

What am I missing?

Hello dummy,

Removing or setting to "not configured" the policy will not revert the setting,
you have to set it to "disabled" wait for the automatic refresh on the client
or run gpupdate /force.

Well, genius, if you read the entire post, you will see, that I tried BOTH
and the client still did not automatically install IE, even after the policy
updated

Hello dummy,

Sorry for that, we all make mistakes, no need for sarcasm.

But setting the policy to disable is the only option you have:

"Note: This registry setting is not stored in a policies key and is thus
considered a preference. Therefore if the Group Policy Object that implements
the setting is ever removed or the policy is set to "Not Configured", the
setting will remain. To unblock distribution of Internet Explorer 7 using
Group Policy set the policy to "Disabled"."

From:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

So i would reconfigure the policy to apply and make sure with gpresult /v
that this the case, configure it to "disabled" run gpresult /v again to check.
Also have a look in the registry for the changes.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Setup\7.0 "DoNotAllowIE70"

Best regards
