blocked ports 139 and 445

      18th May 2006
hi bought some software that requires either port 139 or 445 to be open.they
are blocked.isp say they dont block any ports. turned off fire wall, still
blocked.checked configuration of internet etc cant figure it out. running xp
home edition ,service pack 2, and norton internet security 2005 antispyware
edition, over cable LAN.
please help .i've been at this for hours and hours.

Is the Microsoft Firewall turned on or off?

Do you have a NAT router?

microsoft fire wall is off.
whats a NAT router?have intel pro set for wired connections!!!

Norton Internet Security is blocking them.

May be auto=blocked by your router.

simple solution: Disable port 445!

Go to Control Panel|Windows firewall|Exceptions tab|File Printer Sharing|Edit

Uncheck tick next to port 445!
