Sounds like you have a POP account and created a new mail profile, thus
erasing the information Outlook uses to keep track of what has been downloaded
already. You have a few choices. First (and this is what I'd do) is to log
into the mail server using a web browser, create a new folder on the server,
and move the old messages you've left on the server from the Inbox to the new
folder. If they're not in the Inbox on the server, Outlook can't see them.

The second choice is to create a new PST, make it the delivery location, allow
Outlook to download all the old messages, then change your delivery location
back to the original PST. Outlook should remember what has been downloaded
from then on.

The third is to simply allow all the old messages to download and use a
duplicate remover program to delete the extra copies.
