I am going to change my e-mail address and want to send an e-mail
about the new address. I have two questions regarding this:

1. Is there a limit as to how many names I can put in the bcc field?

2. When I send the e-mail, is it better to put my name in the to field
or to leave it empty.

Thank you.

In Outlook? No.
For your ISP? Maybe.

Personally, I'd do a mail merge and send that way so that everyone gets the
email individualized with their address in the To line. Some spam filters
don't like it when a user gets an email that seemingly is not addressed to
them at all (which a BCC would be considered).

Otherwise, I'd put your new email address there at the least.

Caryl,
1. The limit of recipients for a single message, is determined by your
ISP/Mail service. Some limit recipients to 10 per message, others allow an
unlimited recipients. If you send a message, and it gets returned as not
being sent, because you have an invalid name in your list. Its most likely
that is where you exceeded the limit. I would suggest that you create a
message with 25 names in the BCC: Line, and then try sending it. If the
message goes through, you can either send in groups of 25, or experiment
with increasing the # of names, until you get the rejected the email.

2. Always put an email address in the TO: Line of the message, some ISP/Mail
services will reject the message, if there is not a valid email address in
that line. Create a new contact calling it something like "Caryl's Friends",
using your email address.

3. Consider using a mail merge from OUTLOOK using your OL address book, this
might bypass the limit your ISP/Mail service imposes on a message, for
recipients. Also, if any of your recipients have a message rule to block
BCC: messages, or messages in the TO: Line that do not contain their email
address, the message you send should get through.
