I have just installed the AntiSpyware program on my friend's PC.

When I start the program, the main window comes up but there is nothing in
the window except the title bar, the drop down menu and the program title.

Is this an issue with java or some ActiveX controller that doesn't fill in
the bottom 2/3 window? Why does his PC, but not mine, have this issue?

Are you also running CounterSpy?

CounterSpy is designed around the Giant AntiSpyware engine. MS bought out
Giant Company to acquire Giant AntiSpyware.

These two programs are known to conflict with one another.

We've had a number of this kind of issue posted recently. My sense of this
is that there is a software conflict of some sort, and I've suggested, in
other threads, using MSCONFIG to turn off all third-party services and
startup items to see whether that enables the user to spot what the conflict
is.

That'd be my suggestion to you as well. This is a somewhat time-consuming
process, I'm afraid--and I wouldn't be surprised if this conflict wasn't
present in beta2, which should be released later this year---so you can
choose to spend time on this now and have the protection (if you can solve
this one) or wait.

You might also try this fix to see if it does the job:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware
