Blank Time Column in Event Viewer

I have an XP box that has a strange problem with event viewer itself. The
time column (doesn't matter which log is being viewed) is blank. It appears
to still be recording the event time because it can still be filtered by
time, but just won't display the time. Has anyone ever seen anything like
this before?

I have tried clearning the event logs and creating new event logs bot to no
effect. I even tried copying the eventvwr.msc file from another XP box.
Again, no effect.

I am trying to avoid reimaging the machine as it has some custom software on
it that is troublesome to migrate to another machine.

Thank you for any advice provided.

Mark,
I follow your suggestion below, but unfortunately it did not resolve the
problem. Do you know where in the registry this setting is kept? Maybe, I can
change it manually?

Thank you.
