I downloaded drivers for a USB cable for my cell phone. Afterwards it said I
needed to restart. I did this. Now the screen is black with a flashing
cursor in the upper left corner. I can't get anywhere. I must have got a
virus or something. What can I do to get into it so I can see what is going
on?

At what point you get the Black screen?
I guess you must have left the CD inside the tray.. please check..

If that is not the scenerio please unplug any USB device and then
try..

If the above two steps doesnt work then try in safemode

To get in to safemode

Keep tapping F8 as soon you turn on the computer
Select "Enable VGA Mode" from the Advanced boot options
If you are able to boot in to the desktop then disable the video
adapter

To disable the video adapter Click Start -> right click on My Comptuer
-> Properties -> Hardware -> device manager -> right click on the
video adapter and disable

Reboot the computer.. You should be able to boot to the desktop
