All right I have tried EVERYTHING!! I was running XP
fantastically on my system but it was getting time to up
grade the motherboard (I have done this before with no
problems). So I installed the new board and reformatted
C and loaded XP. When XP does its final reboot loading
it boots fine until it gets to the XP window and then
freezes and goes blank just when windows xp logon should
pop up. The monitor itself does not go off it is still
on but there is no video feed. I have reformatted, tried
different monitors, tried different video cards (agp &
pci), I bought a new hard drive, tried different OP
system, tried different TYPES of hard drives, I replaced
all the internal cables, BIOS has been up dated -- I have
all the newest drivers. I have unhooked everything but
the bare essentials. I can get it to start in Safe mode
and can then load any necessary drivers but it will NOT
let me change the monitor, add a monitor, or change the
monitor drivers. In fact there is NO monitor listed in
the device manager nor will it come up in the ADD
Hardware list. And it will NOT start in any other mode at
all. Not even Safe Mode with Networking. I have spent
hours on the phone with the video card manufacturers,
motherboard & everybody else. Absolutely no luck!
So i decided to go back to my other motherboard for now
and guess what it is now doing the same thing. One would
think the problem was the monitor then but I have tried
other monitors (that I am using on my other computers in
the house) and still a problem.
I have never run into this problem before -- anyone
please HELP!!! My email is RKRomas(at)aol.com the (at) =
@ of course, lol!!

Try pulling all the cards out minus the video card. Another thing you can try is to boot to safe mode and then go to device manager
Disable all hardware not required for booting including videoIt will load a base vga driver. (Use your better judgement when disabling)
Will it boot up normally? If so start enabling devices one at a time and reboot
If it will not boot to safe mode with networking my guess it is the lan card.

All right we fixed it -- we were positive it was a driver
problem and quite a few other people agreeded with us.
But it was an extremely complicated driver issue. We had
to put in a certain AGP card (not to old but not to new
tried 5, lol) then load certain drivers and then do a
card switch. It may sound simple but we tried it many
times before it worked. Anyway thank you to everyone who
pitched in with advice -- we really appreciate it.
