I am importing from excel to access (both 2007)- when i go through the import
steps, just what i want to import is there. When I look in access, several
blank records are added at the end. What can I do to prevent this?

These are probably rows in Excel that have either data or formatting applied.
Delete them in Excel or delete them from the Access table after imported.
