I receive PowerPoint from Japan and sometimes they are totally blak
inside. I guess that's because they use Japanese version of PowerPoint
and I don't?! Why does this happen and how can this problem be
corrected?

What version of PowerPoint do you have? If it's 2003, have you installed SP1?
That might be all that's needed.

It is due to the fonts they use when they made the presentation.
You can do a few things, ask them which fonts they used, then if they are
friendly enough ask them to email you the fonts, you can then double click on
the files (after saving to a local location preferably the fonts folder in
your local computer) and then it will install the fonts and you should be
able to view the powerpoint presentation.

Another way to do it might be to goto a Japanese homepage such as
www.msn.co.jp and it should ask you to download the fonts necessary, however
if the presentation is being made with a font not being downloaded from
msn.co.jp then this method wont be much help.

The original idea of asking which font they use would be the fastest way to
getting to the end goal.

Hope it helps,
Jon
