Hi, I have a windows 2000 pro. When I turn on the
computer, it only shows the blank blue screen with a mouse
point. I pressed windows keyboard, but nothing comes up. I
pressed cntrl, alt, and del button together and brought
the task manager. Nothing is there. I browsed the
explore.exe, then I can see the whole window screen with
icons.

What shall I do?

Make sure that this entry exists in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell=explorer.exe (REG_SZ)
If it doesn't exist or does not equal explorer.exe, make it so it does. If
that's there okay, [re]installing the latest service pack will typically
take care of any explorer.exe crashing issues.

Rename your profile to something different.
Login again and copy the stuff you need from your old
profile into your new one.

c:\documents and settings\%username% --> c:\documents and
settings\%differentusername%

Grab the Application Data, Desktop, etc folders from your
old profile and paste into your newly created one.
