Blank blue screen after remote desktop login

I was connecting fine to a Remote desktop machine a few times and then
suddenly it logged me off once. Since then, I am trying to logon again but
all I get is the login screen wherein I enter the username and password.
After giving that, all I get is a Blue screen with nothing on it.
Where has the desktop gone?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am in the middle of things which I
really need to finish. Is there anything on the client end which I need to
fix?
