I have a pentium III 500 Mhz IBM with an integrated S3
video chip.
I have XP Pro loaded and it has run in the past.

I have tried many different routes to have the system
running but nothing
too advanced. It starts fine, goes through the IBM
startup sequence, then
the XP screen comes up and starts loading, then the screen
goes black and
you hear the startup music but nothing appears on the
screen, therefore my
assumption is that the operating system is still good
running properly and
that it is a configuration issue.

The screen works and all the connections are good.

Do you have any idea how I could rectify this.

Can you get any screen when you boot into safe mode? If so try reloading
your video drivers.

thanks. although it rarely lets me boot in safe mode. it
flips back and soft boots again. any other ideas?
