Black screen (no Windows XP message) when booting, but does go to welcome screen

's Computer Specifications

Now when I turn on the computer the screen is black until the welcome
screen - used to be Windows XP as colored text (and before SP2) Windows XP
Professional. Did work after SP2 installed but then this started to occur.
Could I have inadvertently changed some setting?? Computer (Dell 8600)
works fine!
