We have a document that was created in Word 2003. The images were fine in
2003, but when I open up the document in Word 2007 the images appear as black
boxes or 3/4s of the image shows up as a black box. It is movable and can be
resized, so it act just like an image. Any ideas?

Might look into a video/graphics driver update or reduce the resolution of the
image.
Read the third FAQ here, it is Publisher specific but it is Word relevant.

Having the same problems. Original images scanned in using Omnipage OCR
software.
