hi all,
I have a couple of great printers in my office and I need one for home.
But I want something cheap and simple. There are about a million of
those. So I was hoping someone could suggest something that might fit
these descriptions

1) Black and white (I don't need color so it needs to work with just
the bw slot filled)
2) Document printing only (I really don't need great resolution)
3) Compact size (Not portable but still manageable)
4) USB (and if its got network capability then awesome but not a
requirement)
5) I don't care what the technology is but it should print at least
15ppm or so, nothing too fast, I just don't want to have to wait a long
time
6) Easy setup with minimal software, it would help if it didn't need
any setup on xp

basically I just need it to print out my boarding passes and maybe
google map directions and some e-mails and word docs. you know, a very
simple home printer. It might print as little as 20 pages a week.

It should also cost less than $120. Whats the best printer that can do
all that?

Thanks

T

LEXMARK E330
BROTHER MFC7820N
HP LaserJet 6P
Okidata B4200

All the above are within my price range with expensive toners.

At that level of print usage a midrange inkjet printer may meet your needs
well. You might take a look at the following:

DeskJet 5940, $99 list at
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...51-445462.html
or
DeskJet 6540, $129 list at
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...51-357210.html

Both these come with both black and color cartridges and normally use both at
the same time, but both will print with only the black cartridge installed if
you wanted to do that for some reason. These printers are very fast,
especially if you print in draft mode.

He wants a cheap fast black and white printer, which surely means he is
crying out for a laser. Possibly the little Samsung thingies.
