I am trying to turn on Bitlocker. I have setup the drive and manually
changed the policies since I do not have TPM. Now I am getting the error
message, "CANNOT RUN The specified name either does not exist or cannot be
contacted."

Can anyone help? I have searched the web and this site but cannot find any
info.

Thanks in advance,
DA

At EXACTLY what point in the process do you get this message?

You should probably check the polices that you changed.
I'm not sure that you've accurately reported the error
message you're receiving but on first blush it sounds to
me like you've enabled the Turn on Bitlocker backup to
Active Directory Domain Services option and that you've
also set the option to require a successful backup to AD
DS in order to enable BitLocker. If you turn this on and
you can't connect to the domain, or if the domain has not
been prepared to store the BDE backup, enabling BitLocker
will fail.
As Jesper indicates, telling us exactly where in the
process this fails (along with an accurate report of the
exact error message) would be useful.

The problem was I had the backup to Active Directory Domain Services option
selected like suggested. Once unchecked it worked fine...

Unfortunately, The error message I gave was the exact error message given.
Not terribly informative...

Thanks for the Help!
