What a rip. I expected better graphics and a fastger machine however
I was happy with XP and only moved to Vista because I had to if I
wanted new maching. I have a XP Dell over 5years ole which runs better
then my new Dell Vista laptop. Threre are changes none of them good
the worst is the multifuncition mouse who's always ready to do
something I don't want done so it if I wan t to use the mouse I have
to spend time tricking it into doing into what I want it to do.

Your laptop probably doesn't have enough RAM and the CPU is most likely
pegged down to half speed in an attempt to preserve battery life..

You are bitching about Vista's performance on a machine that has never run
XP.
So you really have no valid comparison. I'm not saying that to jump to the
defense of Vista.
I'm just pointing out the flaw in your methodology. Until you run XP on THAT
machine, there's is no valid comparison.

BTW: The "malfunctioning mouse" may actually be an overly sensitive keypad.
That complaint shows up a lot on this group.
But no matter whether it's the mouse or the keypad, you've got a brand new
computer. Make Dell handle the issue. It's under warranty, right?
If your radio on a brand new car wasn't working right, wouldn't you take it
back to the dealer? Or would you blame the gasoline for the problem?

I've had every version of Windows and this by far is the worst. With other
versions I was able to save sites to a specific folder with no problem. In
this version it doesn't allow me to do that. Too much work in this version.
I've even tried going to the support site at Microsoft but it says I need to
have enabled scripts to view. I haven't touched anything.

For those that totally love everything new.....I have looked at help etc. So
there.......

To put it mildly, this is the WORST version ever!!

Check this out: www.ubuntu.com. Unlike XP, it will work on new hardware,
is free, needs no activation, becoming genuine, etc. Not only that, it
comes with access to over 23,000 free programs and can be installed on
as many machines as you like. In addition, compared to Windows, Ubuntu
is bulletproof in regards to viruses and other malware.

Just like any other OS there is a learning curve even with Ubuntu. The best
thing to do is look what the people close to you use (Family,Friends,Local
groups etc and make a choice. There is no better support then the person
who can actually come and sit at your desk. All current Operating Systems
can do just about anything the others can for the typical user (unless you
are using some propietary software or hardware). We can debate all day long
what does what better, but it's pointless and quite honestly childish, for
every stat one can give for a Positive another can give a Negative.
