Birthdays as recurring apointments - how to?

2002 and 2003 - How do I create a new calendar so that Birthdays and
Anniversaries automatically become annual recurring appointments on the new
calandar. And how do I delete that automatic feature?

Birthdays and anniversaries automatically generate a recurring event on your
DEFAULT calendar.

After furious head scratching, norm asked:
