| hello,
| there is a long story beyond the laptop that i was given
| to fix. here it is in brief.
| windows xp along with win2000 and win98 are installed on
| the computer. i think that windows 2000 and win 98 are
| not working when selected to load on startup.
| those three operating systems are loaded on one folder
| and the harddisc that is one partition (12gb) is
| formatted using the ntfs file.
| on the same harddisc but in a different folder there is
| also another copy of win xp pro with sp1 built in.
| as i said before this is a laptop with the cd drive is
| built in the docking station means that once i want to
| use the cd-rom compartment, the laptop should be docked.
| i tried to boot from the cd rom with win xp pro sp1 in,
| the computer did not boot. i adjusted the booting
| sequence in the bios and still no positive result. the sc
| may boot once windows is loaded. this is possible that i
| may go for clean installation and this is what i did. i
| wanted to be a clean installation so the left over files
| from the previous OS, will be deleted and harddisc will
| be formatted and win xp pro sp1 will be installed.
| conclusion.
| i thought of using windows xp spi setup disc as the last
| chance to format the disc. when floppy No#1 is loaded i
| had this error message: ""FILE\BIOSINFO.INF COULD NOT BE
| LOADED. THE ERROR CODE IS 4096. SETUP CANNOT CONTINUE.
| PRESS ANY KEY TO EXIT.""
|
| what is this biosinfo file, what shall i do to format my
| disc, and have win xp pro sp1 installed on the computer?
|
| FYI: i want to use the setup disc , i want to partition
| the hard drive into 2 partitions.
