BIOS Update Question: Is ftp.asus.de a dead site?

In the past, after trying the other ASUS BIOS update sites and getting
no updates, I have always gone to ftp.asus.de and I have been given
multiple update options including beta versions. Now when I attempt to
use that site, I get the message there are too many users. I've tried
for several weeks now and no matter what time of day or night, I always
get the same message. Has ASUS abandoned this particular site?

Unfortunately, I believe so.

There's been no announcement to that effect - perhaps because it was
never the 'official' source of Asus BIOSes, just the best.

I have the impression asus.de was something of a renegade division. I've
worked in a similar environment, it's fun, but eventually the corporate
types notice you and take away your toys.

I suspect so.
Their main sites for downloads have also 'ground to a halt' at times over
the last few weeks. For instance five attempts, and four hours+, to get a
set of working motherboard drivers, on a link, potentially capable of
transferring the whole file in just over one minute...
They are meant to be doing a major 're-organisaion' of their sites, and
hopefully it is only a temporary 'glitch', or there are going to be a lot
of unhappy customers around.
The German site, was never really 'official'. The team that worked on the
BIOS's, posted them here first, and over the years, more and more people,
found this as the 'best' site for the latest files. I'd be inclined to
think that the useage patterns had become so 'skewed', that Asus have been
forced to redesign.

best Wishes
