MSI 865PE Neo 2-FIS2R [MS-6728] Motherboar
AMI Bios 672
Maxtor SATA [6Y080M0] 80Gi
Pentium IV 3.0 GH
Windows XP Home Editio

Updated the BIOS using the MSI Update Utility. Bios appears to have updated to 6728 version 2.1 as intended. But now can not boot Windows XP and can not get it to recognize Maxtor SATA [only hard drive]
The SATA and XP were operating normally prior to the BIOS update
I have cold booted XP installation disc and applied F6 to in an attempt to install the floppy for driver [Intel ICH5R (82801ER) South Bridge for Win2K]. Windows XP still will not recognize SATA and calls for F3 exit set up.

Can someone please give me with a procedure or plan of attack.
Thank
Don

Find your motherboard's User's Manual and look up the correct
BIOS settings for a SATA drive. Apparently, the BIOS update
set all the BIOS settings to their default settings. You need to
make the proper SATA settings in the BIOS.
