Please out your entire query in the BODY of your article(s).

Try disconnecting ONE of those HDDs at a time from the cable (you'll probably
need to re-jumper the "Slave" drive to "Master" or "Single" for it's solo turn
on the cable). The way IDE works, if the control interface on one drive in a
master/slave pair is FUBAR, odds are it will keep commands from properly
reaching the other drive, even if that other drive is undamaged.
Also, double-check the power-cable connections to both drives. (Can you hear
them spin up when you turn on the system?)

*What* "shows up in the bios"? The CD-ROM, or the HDDs? I thought you said
the HDDs were not being detected?
Or do you mean to say that you temporarily cannibalized the IDE cable off the
CD-ROM drive, and applied it to the HDDs, with no change is result?
Or do you mean something else entirely?

But have you *checked* your current CMOS (often called "BIOS") settings, to be
sure that they did not somehow inadvertently become corrupted?

That's about all I've got at the moment.
