Hello all,

On my second PC

Pentium Dual Core 3.0Ghz (925) (£20 on ebay)
Gigabyte P31 DS3L
2GB OCZ PC2 8500
XFX 8600GTS
OCZ 600W Gamexstream PSU
Vista HP 64Bit

I flashed the BIOS and decided to play around with a few settings, i dropped the multiplyer on the CPU from 15 x 200 to 13 x 220 which puts me abit slower at 2.8Ghz, the RAM is on 750Mhz even though it is supposed to be 1066Mhz.

Before it was on 667Mhz and i couldn't shift it.

Anyway my PC is running a lot faster now????????

I know the RAM is running faster but should i get what i think is a massive performance gain from 80Mhz on the RAM or is it that the CPU is cooler
(5 degrees on idle) or that the BIOS is updated??????????

Not complaining but a bit confused.

Have you tried it and compared it at 15 x 200 and memory at 1066?

The improvement will come from the faster memory speed unless the CPU temp was vastly over the top, like, sort of 60C and above, which could make the whole system unstable.

Sometimes a revised Bios can make a huge difference.

I'm assuming you mean the CPU is running five degrees cooler? Just out of interest what temp is your CPU on active?

Hello

I couldn't get the RAM at 1066Mhz it was stuck at 667Mhz,

Using HMonitor, with BOINC running my CPU at 90% temp is 37 degrees on the CPU, 40 degrees on the motherboard.

I am using a Heatsink off of a QX9650 Quad Extreme, so it cools very well.
