Binary Serialization - Checksum

Hi folks,
Consider a class that's being serialized as a binary data. I would like
to know whether the BinaryFormatter uses a checksum to make sure that
the data is left intact while deserializing the byte array. i.e., what
happens if the serialized data is somehow manipulated before
deserializing?

Any help would be highly appreciated,
