You did reinstall new software - you did a repair of the OS. That is
significant.
You need to provide some relevant information on his issue. Why did you
reinstall XP in the first place? Was there an operational problem you were
trying to solve? How did you reinstall it? At what SP level? Did you
reinstall drivers for all hardware? Did you go to windows update and get
the latest updates? What was this links problem? Does that problem still
exist? When did this most recent problem start? What is the exact error
message? Does it happen with all programs or only some? You said you
scanned for malware so that suggests you are able to run some programs, so
when exactly does this error occur? Is it Windows programs as well as 3rd
party software that give this message?
