I am now running in safe mode just to post this. Every
time i start my computer (after 30 sec) the whole scren
goes striped or a solid color. No words, no cursor and no
command will respond.<<I know its not the screen
resolution, it is my system. What could be the problem?
Also i reinstalled XP a few months back and since then i
have had no CD drive. I put a CD in and it lights up but
nothing happens, and so i go to "my compter" and there is
nothing there for CD only my floppy and 2 local drives.
What can i do? I cant even put in my XP CD to fix this.

Your video problem is easier to diagnose: Install the most recent driver for
your video card. Still have poor video? Try another monitor on your
computer. Problem gone? Then the original monitor needs to be replaced.
Problem still exists? Then you need to replace your video card. Overheating
is a likely culprit.

Once you get your video back, look here:
