Big Problem in my Windows Mail

In Windows Mail, if one hits TOOLS the drop down menu list shows "newsgroups"
there among other options (I have Vista) and mine does NOT have it listed.
Somehow I lost it. Either through an old crash, a system restore due to the
crash or I somehow accidentally deleted it. (I have no idea how long ago
this happened - none at all.) Now I cannot replace it on my own. I need
help BADLY.

I very much want it back there as there are half a dozen or so really good
newsgroups I discovered recently and want to join and it would, of course, be
GREAT to have that back on my drop down menu.

My questions are: How do I get it back? Where do I go to download Windows
Mail again or to "repair" Windows Mail? I have way too much mail in there
right now to lose. Many thousands of pieces of mail. (I'm very, very
surprised they haven't asked me to "compact" yet like Outlook Express often
did when I had XP - back in the good old days.

If this cannot be done (not with my luck I'm sure) is there other rather
easy and convenient options for me to subscribe to 6 or so of these
"newsgroups"?

Obviously I am a virgin newbie to all this and do not understand the Techie
Lexicon at all but am interested very much in joining these newsgroups to
learn about new things as well as resolving my problems - troubleshooting.
Also learning a few tips and tweaking for Windows, Vista, Foxfire and
Internet Explorer is my primary interest. Very, very safe totally freeware
(compatible) is a bonus if I should get lucky.

Welcome any and all help resolving my BIG problem. Thanks all and have a
great day!

If I'm understanding you correctly, press Ctrl W and it should bring up the
newsgroups.

Thanks so much Cheri, Itried that and it didn't work. What happened is it
is no longer listed at all on my TOOLS drop down menu. So now I cannot join
any newsgroups the way Windows Mail HELP tells you to do. I am reaching you
all through "Communities" in the Windows Mail HELP drop-down menu. Lordy, I
wish I could get this fixed fast.

I'm sorry it didn't work, with me I can click on anything like inbox, sent
items etc., and then click Ctrl W and it brings up the newsgroup list.
Hopefully someone else knows how to help. Good luck, and I know it's
frustrating.

I suspect the reason there is no 'Newsgroups' on your Tools menu is
because you haven't set up a news server account. Did you go to Tools,
Accounts, to see if you have a news account? If not, the first step is to
select a news server. Check with your ISP if they offer one. If not,
sign up for a free account with http://motzarella.org, then set that
account up in your Windows Mail.

Of course. I was assuming that the OP had a new server account. You're very
helpful BTW, and I appreciate it.

Hi Cheri!
The OP's symptom made me suspect that he did not have a news account.
When you've been in this business as long as I have, you learn to anticipate
all the possibilities.
