Big delays on composing/replying to mail

There was a thread about this a week or two ago on here. I'm having the same
problem as another poster had - when replying to mail or composing a new
one, there's a significant delay (sometimes more than 10 seconds) before the
new mail appears. I tried the solution proposed before (as I had imported a
list of contacts (also an inbox, sent items, etc.) from Outlook Express):
saving my contacts as a CSV file, then deleting them and reloading them from
this file. But this doesn't make any difference.

Anyone else had this problem and found a way round it?

Turn off email scanning of your antivirus software and then remove your
accounts close and reopen WinMail and add them back again.

No. Leave it off. That's what is causing the problem or likely to be.
Its redundant and just messes things up.
