I installed bginfo (Sysinternals) just to have it when I needed it.
However, I can't find a way to keep it from showing up on my Desktop
every time I boot. It's messing up my wallpaper.

Don't run it at startup/logon.

1. msconfig.exe - uncheck if it's there.
2. Windows Services - switch from Auto to Manual if it's there.

After removing it from the Startup group, change your wallpaper. BGInfo
takes your current wallpaper, imprints the data on it, saves it as BGInfo,
and sets it as your current one. Changing to your old one will put you back
where you were.

The only problem is: next time I run it, it will stay there again.

Not there.

Not there either.

It is not in the Startup group, so there is nothing to remove.

It is not in msconfig, so there is nothing to uncheck if it is there.

It is not a service, so you can't switch it from Auto to Manual if it
is there.

If you run BGInfo it will lay a copy of your information over your
existing wallpaper by your choice. That is what it does. It is not
messing up your wallpaper, it is doing what you told it to do.

If you don't like it, change your wallpaper back, or tell BGInfo not
to do that when you run it, or tell it to do something else using
command line switches or a configuration file:

Yes - because it creates a new image from your wallpaper and the info.

Shenan is correct - and I did not make that clear...

Your old wallpaper is still available to choose, BGInfo sets WP to
BGInfo wallpaper.
