BF 1942 Running extremly slow! need help!

I Just Built a new computer works fine on all my other games, except for BF1942.
It plays good for a few seconds then it drops down to about 10fps!
Even my old computer could play it-
-WIN XP home
-230 watt PSU
-AMD Athlon 2000+
-768 DDR
-Geforce 5200 AGP
-60 GB harddrive

My New Computer cant play it and it has...
-WIN XP professional
-400 watt PSU
-AMD Athlon xp 3000+
-512 DDR
-Geforce 5900xt
-80 GB hard drive
even on the lowest resoultion and graphics it can't really run. and my computer can play Max Payne 2 on graphics set to High, so i know it can play BF 1942. Any suggestions?

Check the Direct3D settings are set to "optimal" in the advanced setting menu for display properties??? maybe???

... Also check you have the latest "drivers" and have a look at the games website to see if there are any patches.

Had the same problem. It was fixed with drivers. I'll go check the versions and all the info and let you know.
