Home user, no email server other than what my ISP gives me...

I want to recieve the same emails on my laptop that I do on my desktop...

Currently I tell Outlook to leave downloaded messages on the server, which
seems to work well... until I have an Outlook issue...

But my question is this: is there a better way to keep all my outlook synced
up without having a central server? I guess I am using my isp as a central
server, but I've heard this is not a good way to do things...

So, to have the same email on my laptop as I have on my desktop, what are my
options?
