You remind me of the man who complained that his chainsaw
was hard to use . . . because he was not aware that he should
start it before use.

If you're using OE as a newsreader, have a closer look at the
first column, then one with the glasses, and how to use it to
flag your messages and to get them to float to the top of the
list.

Yes, the web interface is truly awful. Try setting up a real newsreader
(very easy) instead. Here is information to help you with this:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are some
links to information about newsgroups:

You're using the web interface to these groups, which everybody agrees
is a horrible kludge. You'd be much better off to install a real
newsreader, and connect to the Microsoft server that delivers these
groups (msnews.microsoft.com). And while you're at it, you can use the
same software to access your ISPs Usenet server and choose from tens
of thousands of groups.

Microsoft's Outlook Express is probably already installed on your
machine. Other readers to consider include Mozilla Thunderbird
(www.mozilla.org/thunderbird), and Forte Agent/FreeAgent
(www.forteinc.com/agent).

Yes, it's terrible, isn't it?

However, this really isn't a forum at all. It's the
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general newsgroup. Because you are participating
in this newsgroup by using the web interface, you don't realize that it's
really a newsgroup. The web interface is awful--it's the slowest, clunkiest,
most error-prone method of participating here there is. Do yourself a favor
and switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with
Windows. See http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/ou...snewreader.htm

If you can't find a post the best tool for this is Google Groups Advanced
search. Search on your name as author. You can limit the search to a
specific newsgroup, this one is microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, or use
wildcard characters like microsoft.public.windowsxp.* to search all the
windowsxp newsgroups. The search can also be filtered by keyword and date
posted.
