Microsoft is taking this in stages. They've promised us a warning before
the floodgates are opened by notifications in-the-program for Microsoft
Antispyware users.
At the same time anyone who wishes is very welcome to upgrade now--I've
upgraded all the machines I administer, and don't hesitate to recommend the
change when posts are made here by Microsoft Antispyware users.
I suspect their will be another incremental jump in the number of total
users rather soon, due to an integration with a different product.
I don't know when they'll trigger notification of Microsoft Antispyware
users, but we'll get a warning in .announcements first--so: "not yet."
(I also believe that the old program will continue to be supported by
definition updates for some time--perhaps even through the current
expiration date of July 31, 2006--this is my own guesswork, however, not
something I've heard someone authoritative state.)
