I installed the Microsoft spyware scan and all the stuff
comes up on screen. Click on scan now button and then
page goes blank only showing the menu stuff at top.

Restart is safe mode and see if MSAS can manage to start.
Press F8 during reboot and choose safe mode.

It might also be a good idea to clear out all temporarily junk before
scanning. This tool can be used, www.ccleaner.com

Choose fullscan with all options checked if MSAS starts.
