Do you have the Windows Installer 3.1 installed on your system--check in add
or remove programs, near the end of the list.

What actually happens when you attempt to install--you run the downloaded
..MSI file--then what?

Yes i have Windows Installer 3.1 installed on my computer. When I attempt to
install Defender on my computer, i i do the steup up for what i want it to
install on to my computer, and then it asks if i want to install it and i say
yes to it. Then when the installation bar comes up, it says performing the
requested options, and if you look at the installation bar it does'nt go
anywhere, and i waited for about 20 minutes and still did'nt go anywhere. I
don't think its's my antivirus program either because i have Norton and it
would ask me to accept the installation if there was a security issue.

I have seen one, and only one, post very much like yours. That poster said
that she disabled Norton Antivirus, and was able to proceed with the
installation normally.

I'd certainly recommend trying disabling Norton for long enough to complete
the install.

Terrific--glad that works, and I'm glad that other poster was able to figure
out what the problem was, and post the solution here.
