Currently I have multiple e-mail accounts I use for different purposes. At
the moment, I retrieve them all through POP3, where they are aggregated in my
inbox but when I reply to one Outlook (2007) is smart enough to use the
account the mail was sent to in the FROM box of the reply. I can also
automatically format messages in the list by e-mail account. Overall it works
fairly well.
However, I'd like to switch to IMAP servers (probably using GMail) in order
to better synchronize mail between different computers and webmail servers.
I'm wondering what would be the best way to set up multiple IMAP accounts so
that I get something similar to what I have now. That is, I'd prefer a
central inbox that aggregates the inboxes of each of the IMAP accounts but
will let me autoformat based on account and be smart enough to use the
correct FROM address in any reply mails.
I'd also like any sent mail to be automatically copied to the sent folder of
the IMAP account being used in the FROM line but also have an aggregated sent
folder. Preferably all mail will remain on the server but also store a local
copy.
Ideally, I could also have an aggregated junk folder which could be used by
a local spam filtering software and mail dragged to the spam folder would
also be moved to the spam folder on the IMAP server from where it originated.
Is any of that possible?
