I use Outlook 2007 with multiple IMAP accounts. The spam is out of hand. The
built in Junk Mail Filter doesn't really get it done even on High setting.
How does it work, it doesn't seem to "learn" and misses all kinds of spam.

What are the best FREE 3rd party IMAP capable spam filters for Outlook 2007?
I am trying SpamBayes and it's actually really good once it's been "trained"
(near 100% effective w/ no false positives). But it's old and no longer being
developed.

Correct. It doesn't "learn", but it's always being trained by messages
Microsoft gathers through MSN.

If it works well, what difference does it make if it's no longer under
development? When does "old" matter to a software app as long as it still
functions?

I agree with Brian, SpamBayes would be my recommendation even though it
may not be under development at this point.
