Hi,
Could anyone tell me what is considered best practise
for closing (or hiding until next activation) an application
on pocket pc?

Yes, don't close it and make sure it accepts that it will be sent the
close message at any random moment from the OS. No need to hide it as
it will be hidden when a user switches to another app.
