First I have my Users folder setup with the following permissions.

\\server\Users (folder)

Share permissions:

-Administrators (FC, C, R), Domain Admins (FC, C, R), Domain Users (FC, C,
R)

Security permissions:

-Administrators (All), Domain Admins (All)

I'm running Win 2000 and AD.

The workstation is XP.

I think this is correct. The previous admin had included the Domain Users in
the Security permissions, and that meant that when new user folders were
created, Domain users permissions flowed to the new users folder. I've
removed the Domain Users from the Security permissions for that reason.

When I create a new user and

Home folder I enter \\server\users\%username%, Windows creates the folder
and gives the new user Full Control of their folder.

What I don't understand is why when I create a My Documents folder and right
click on it the "Read-Only" attribute is gray with a check mark. If I click
to clear the box and apply, then go back and check it's back to gray with a
check in the box.

I've checked the properties of the users folder and the My Documents fold
and they have Full Control of both.

In the past I logged on the server and created the folder, shared it and
given the user share and security rights to the folder. That seems to have
worked but thought this new way might be less trouble. That is till I can't
figure out how to make it work.

I've tried sharing the folder to the user and giving them Full Control and
the properties of the My Document folder is still gray with a check mark.

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance!

Kelvin
