Must be the remote control I bought from the Pound Shop for the portable TV we've had for years. It even included the battery (one of those the size of 10p). I never really thought it would work but for £1 I just had to try it and, yes, it works a treat. It has multi functions - can be used for DVD and VCR too.

Doesn't exactly look like something designed by Bang and Olufsson but OMG it's great value.

Hmm, bought a few luxury items this year, a TV, Xbox 360 and a new car stereo but I think this has been my favourite purchase:

The Kindle e-Reader gets my vote. I've had mine for a month, and find that my enjoyment of it just keeps increasing, it's a great.
